WINES OF THE MONTH - AUGUST

We have 2 fantastic wines for you to enjoy this August! With the help of our friend and wine supplier, Philippe Larue of l'Art du Vin, we've selected these delicious wines to tempt you throughout August.

First up is this delightful white: Gaillac Blanc Sec, Château Clément Termes 2014. Gaillac is one of the most innovative wine growing areas in France; the range of grape styles is amazing. Chateau Clement Termes was founded in 1868 in the historic bastide town of Montaigut and the wines were originally delivered all over France in oak barrels, the clients being largely composed of churchmen. The château remains within the David family to this day and respect for tradition and traditional grape varieties remains undimmed. This zesty white is a blend of Mauzac, Loin de l'Oiel (literally 'far from the eye') and Sauvignon Blanc. Makes for the perfect summer aperitif.

175cl glass - £6.50; 250cl glass - £8.50; bottle - £22

And in celebration of the glorious Scottish summer weather (!) we have chosen a rosé instead of a red for July: Tempranillo RosadoVacceos, Rueda, Spain 2014. Vacceos is based in the DO Rueda, an open expanse high above the Duero River. This rosé is produced using 100% Tempranillo and offers a delightful deep pink colour. Catapult yourself into summer with this unique and wonderful wine with hints of melon, fresh cherries, white flowers, and a great citrusy zip.
